A tool does not decide its purpose. A hammer does not choose to become something else. A key does not redefine the lock it was made for. Its purpose comes from the one who designed it.
The phrase “thy Creator” points to God as the one who formed us with intention. It speaks of design, ownership, and purpose. Our lives are not self-made, and our purpose is not self-defined.
Yet many people live as though they are. We make plans based on what we want. We define success on our own terms. We chase goals without asking if they align with God’s will, and then we ask Him to bless what we have already decided.
But God does not exist to support our plans. We exist to fulfil His.
This confronts a subtle way of thinking where we relate to God mainly for what He gives instead of who He is. To remember Him as Creator means surrender. It means letting go of control and allowing Him to define your life.
This is not always easy. It can feel costly. But without that surrender, you can know about God and still live outside of His purpose.
